The day will begin with field tours from 7:30 a.m. until 9:15 a.m. Included in the tours will be presentations by LSU AgCenter rice breeders Dr. Steve Linscombe, director of the Rice Research Station and Dr. Xueyan Sha, who will discuss their ongoing projects to develop new rice varieties; Dr. Eric Webster of the LSU AgCenter and Bob Scott, University of Arkansas extension weed specialist, on weed control practices; and Dr. Don Groth, pathologist, and Dr. Brooks Blanche, rice breeder, on disease control related research.
Dr. Mike Stout and Dr. Natalie Hummel, LSU AgCenter entomologists, will discuss rice insect control practices and agronomists Dr. Dustin Harrell of the LSU AgCenter and Dr. Tim Walker of Mississippi State University will talk about rice production research.
A poster session will also be held for other researchers to provide information on their work.
The program begins at 10:45 a.m. with a lunch being served afterward.
