Keep him mayor

Editor, The Eunice News:

I’m so shocked at the way this city is treating Bob Morris.

This man and his family have taken enough from the people who want to do things their way instead of the right way.

I have seen him begin to straighten this city out on things that past mayors didn’t give a hoot about.

He and his family are good people and he is trying to fix a city that is so broken and corrupt.

It takes a lot of heart to do what our mayor is doing.

Thank you Mayor Bob, for standing firm and thank you Mrs. Morris, for supporting him through this tough time.

You’re doing a great job. Don’t be discouraged. God bless our city. Keep Bob our mayor.

Disappointed, disrepected

Editor, The Eunice News:

Mr. Butler, I was extremely disappointed in your refusal to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at October’s City Council meeting. As the mother of a soldier in the US Army, who has served a tour of duty in Iraq and an American citizen, I cannot understand how anyone could do (or rather not do) such a thing.

Leading citizens in the pledge should not have anything to do with your relationship, or lack thereof, with the mayor or anyone else.

I am very taken aback and feel that you disrespected not only yourself and the citizens of this city, but most of all my son and the brave men and women who serve each and every one of us.

Mayoral advice

Editor, The Eunice News:

In a recent publication of Santa Clara University’s Center for Applied Ethics, there was an article entitled Dealing Ethically with the Press: A Guide for Public Officials. It included the following statement: “Holding power makes some officeholders think they should not have to answer for their behavior. But wise officials support the media in reporting on issues that the public has a right to know about.”

The article included the following suggestions for public officials:

“Tell the truth and tell it right away.”

“Don’t be stupid. Don’t make your city look stupid.”

This is excellent advice, Bob, excellent advice.
