A four-year-old child was killed in an auto accident over the weekend, according to the Louisiana State Police.

Around 11:10 a.m. on Sunday, Erath’s Susan Hebert was driving her Nissan north on La. 89, entering Iberia Parish from Vermilion Parish. State Troopers said she lost control of the car on a curve, left the road and hit a culvert.

The car overturned.

State Police said Hebert was not wearing a seat-belt and was ejected and suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Abbeville General Hospital.

Her four-year-old grandchild Katlyn Hebert, was killed because of injuries.

State Police said the girl was not properly restrained.

A one-year-old, who was restrained in a child seat, received only minor injuries.

Katlyn’s parents are: mother, Marcelle Bourque Hebert, of Broussard; and her father, Michael Hebert, Jr., of Erath.
