One would think a traffic violation would be the last thing a narcotics mule would commit while ferrying dope across country but for the second time this month an alleged routine traffic stop has netted a big dope score on I-10 in St. Martin Parish.

On Monday, according to State Police Troop I, a trooper, conducted a stop on a 2005 Budget Rental Truck for a traffic violation on I-10 near milepost 113 within St. Martin Parish.

The driver was identified as Theresa Ford and the passenger Justin Cole, both of Trinity, Texas. The trooper asked for and was granted permission to search the vehicle. During the search, the trooper located 13 boxes containing 49 bundles of marijuana.

The marijuana had a combined weight of 1,189 pounds, with an estimated street value of $1,182,420, Troop I said.

Ford and Cole were both booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail on the charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana.

Earlier this month, a traffic stop lead to the confiscation of dozens of plastic bags filled with narcotics and the arrest of the driver involved.
