Mamou Fire Chief thanks community for its assistance

MAMOU - District Fire Chief Garry Reed admitted firefighters owed a great deal of thanks to many people who assisted the department in achieving a better rating for its protected area.

The Mamou Fire District consists of the Mamou Fire, Vidrine Fire and the W.C. Read Fire departments.

“At this time we want to acknowledge the following people and their organizations,” Reed said. “First, the Mamou Police dispatchers and their supervisor Tosha Douget” were thanked. “The Mamou Police Department and Chief Greg Dupuis” were thanked, along with “The Town of Mamou Water Department and Randy Miller, supervisor; the Town of Mamou mayor and the council, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department and Sheriff Eddie Soileau, the Mamou Rice Driers and their staff and the following local fire departments: Eunice Fire Department, Basile Fire Department, Pine Prairie Fire Department, Ward Five Fire Department, Chataignier Fire Department, the Ville Platte Fire Department and lastly, the Mamou Volunteer Fire Department and Chief Chester Granger Jr., the W.C. Read Fire Department and Chief Mitch Manuel and the Vidrine Volunteer Fire Department and Chief Jason Deshotel.

“All these organizations came together to make our goal possible to achieve. The mission of the Mamou Fire District is ‘to save lives and property’ and these people assist us every day of the year in our mission.”

District Fire Chief Garry Reed sent out a big thank you to everyone.
