On Jan. 18, the Abbeville Police Department received a call of a business robbery at the H&D FoodMart on Charity Street.

Officers were on scene within one minute of the event being dispatched.

The clerk at the store told police the suspect was a black male who had torn a money bag from his hands while he was making change and then fled the store.

Abbeville Police Department Detectives processed the robbery scene. Evidence from the scene and other information gathered during the subsequent investigation led detectives to obtain an arrest warrant for Simple Robbery for David Dyson III.

Dyson, age 20, of Abbeville was located at a residence on South East Street this morning and was placed into custody.

Chief Coleman wishes to commend the Detective Division for a job well done. Chief Coleman further wishes to thank those in the public who assisted in this investigation.
