Do you have diabetes and have forgotten simple management tips?  Are you not sure exactly what is normal blood sugar?  Have you recently been diagnosed with diabetes and not sure what to do?  Does diabetes run in your family and you want to prevent it?  You should attend a three part educational series on diabetes on March 1, 8 and 15 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Vermilion Parish Extension Service Office at 1105 W. Port St. in Abbeville.  The program should last 1 - 1½ hours each night.

The program will be conducted by Mandy G. Armentor, MS, RD, LDN, Assoc. Extension Agent (FCS-Nutrition), with the LSU AgCenter.  Participants will receive all information discussed at each class and samples of diabetic dishes.

This program is open to the public and a cost of $5.00 per person will be charged.  You should attend all three classes to get all of the information presented as each class is a different topic.  Please call 898-4335 for more information or to sign up to attend this class.

March1 – Session 1 – What is Diabetes, and the Basics of Diabetes

March 8 – Session 2 – Nutrition and Diabetes and Diets

March 15 – Session 3 – Modifying Recipes for Diabetes and Cooking with Artificial Sweeteners.

Remember to call 898-4335 to pre-register for this great educational opportunity by March 1st, though pre-registration is not required to attend this class.
