CROWLEY – Journalist Leo Honeycutt, writer of the authorized biography of former Louisiana Governor Edwin Edwards along with Anna Edwards, daughter of the former governor, will hold a book signing Saturday, February 27 in Crowley.

They will begin a presentation at The Grand Opera House of the South on Parkerson Avenue in Crowley at 1 p.m. Saturday which will be followed by a question and answer session. They then plan to autograph copies at Joppe Courtyard Cafe also on Parkerson.

Honeycutt’s book has had a huge reception with copies flying off of shelves whereever the highly coveted book is sold.

“Edwin Edwards: Governor of Louisiana” will be available for purchase at both locations during the book signing event, however those who have already purchased a copy are encouraged to bring theirs in for signing.

The book takes readers through the 50-year, sensational career of a man who got his political start right here on the Crowley City Council in 1954. His flamboyant public persona along with his political character has throttled Edwards into a Louisiana populist among the likes of Huey P. Long.

The book sold out the first run of 10,000 copies three days after its release date. These soaring sales are solely attributed to “the enigma that is Edwards.” According to Honeycutt, “he’s a puzzling political personality shaped by his background, and a lifetime effort to climb to the top of the heap.”

Even at age 82 while serving time in a federal penitentiary, Edwards continues to mesmerise Louisiana. It comes down to the fact that Edwards was always a likable guy that graced a crowd with unparalleled presence. As the longest running governor in Louisiana’s history, Edwin Edwards will forever be remembered as a politician like no other in the great state of Louisiana.
