ERATH – Scotty Romero of Delcambre learned the hard way not to speed in Erath while allegedly having drugs on him.
Recently, Romero was speeding down Putnam Street, and Erath police officers Lou Daniels and Larry Landry stopped Romero for it at around 8:30 in the morning.
When Romero stopped, he began to run.
After about a 90-minute search in the town of Erath, Romero was located hiding in a bed room that had a baby sleeping in it. Romero broke into the house and while searching house to house, the police officers noticed the break-in and searched the home.
They found Romero hiding in the room of a house on LaSalle Street..
His charges included: exhibition of speed, no driver’s license, open container, possession of crack cocaine, possession of powdered cocaine, possession of schedule IV narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple aggravated escape, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer, simple burglary, simple battery, narcotics in the presence of a juvenile possession of meth, and distribution of meth.
Romero was booked into the Erath jail, and then later transported to the Vermilion Parish jail.
Bond was set at $36,000. As of Tuesday at noon, Romero was still in the Parish jail.
Erath Police Chief Gerald Hebert would like to commend officers, Lou Daniels, Landry, Jeff Vincent, and Ryan Pommier on the arrest, and a special thanks to the citizens who aided in the apprehension of Romero.
