The Louisiana Track Coaches Association recently released its All-State Outdoor Track & Field Team.

The team consists of the top performers from the LHSAA Track & Field State Championship meet last month at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium in Baton Rouge.

Athletes from Vermilion Parish found spots on the team after finding success at the State meet.

Abbeville’s Rechelle Bessard is on the list twice, after helping the Lady Wildcats capture the Class 3A State title. Bessard finished first in two events at the meet, winning the shot put (42-4 1/2) and the discus (145-10). Bessard is on the All-State team for both events.

The Lady Wildcats’ 4x100 relay team also won a State title. The quartet of Vonchelle Perry, Jamesia Walker, Ashantae Thibodeaux and Jamila Rhodes won the race with a time of 48.21. That number has the relay team on the All-State version.

Also making an appearance on the team is Erath’s Johnathon Toups, the Class 3A pole vault champ. Toups cleared 15-6 at the State meet to earn a spot on the State roster.
