The 18-year-old beauty is the daughter of Pat and Sherri Higginbotham and Angie and Hanson Tanner, all of Pine Prairie. She is a 2007 graduate of Pine Prairie High School and is currently attending Louisiana State University at Eunice. She plans to continue her education by transferring to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she will major in child psychology and become a social worker. She was crowned by outgoing queen Jenna Doyle.
Placing as first runner-up to the new queen was Alyssa Brooke McDaniel, the 17-year-old daughter of Scott McDaniel of Ville Platte and Tammy Hammond of Pine Prairie. Second runner-up was Ashlyn Dawn Lee, the 17-year-old daughter of Cary and Rachael Lee of Ville Platte. Mayor Terry Savant was crowned as the 2008 Boggy Bayou King during the opening of this year’s pageant.

Fallan Higginbotham was crowned last Saturday, April 5, as the 24th Boggy Bayou Festival Queen during the annual pageant held at the fairgrounds. The 18-year-old beauty is the daughter of Pat and Sherri Higginbotham and Angie and Hanson Tanner, all of Pine Prairie. She is a 2007 graduate of Pine Prairie High School and is currently attending Louisiana State University at Eunice. She plans to continue her education by transferring to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she will major in child psychology and become a social worker. She was crowned by outgoing queen Jenna Doyle.
Placing as first runner-up to the new queen was Alyssa Brooke McDaniel, the 17-year-old daughter of Scott McDaniel of Ville Platte and Tammy Hammond of Pine Prairie. Second runner-up was Ashlyn Dawn Lee, the 17-year-old daughter of Cary and Rachael Lee of Ville Platte. During the morning Queen’s Tea, the contestants voted on Miss Congeniality, and this year’s award went to Megan Danielle Hudspeth, the 17-year-old daughter of the late Robert Hudspeth and Lori Fontenot of Ville Platte.
Winning the Mrs. Boggy Bayou title for 2008 was Dawnyna Michelle McDaniel, wife of Bryan McDaniel of Bayou Chicot. She is the mother of three daughters and is currently employed with the United States Penitentiary in Pollock. She is a 1985 graduate of Pine Prairie High School. She was crowned by her sister, outgoing Mrs. Boggy Bayou Balinda Ardoin. Placing as first runner-up to the Mrs. Queen was Jessica Clark of Pine Prairie. She is the mother of one daughter.
The new royalty took part in this year’s festivities, and both queens are looking forward to a busy and exciting year.
