The detectives got an arrest warrant for a 16-year-old male Wednesday at noon and by 2 p.m. they had him in custody.
Abbeville Police Chief Rick Coleman did not want to release the name of the juvenile but the juvenile is from Abbeville.
Coleman said the 16 year old is the person who pulled the trigger. A witness to the crime gave the police a tip.
The chief expects more arrests to come as the investigation continues.
The killing occurred Sunday morning in Abbeville on Vernon Street near “The Front.”
Plowden, 34, was found shot with a bullet through his neck.
Funeral services for Plowden are pending and will be handled by Butler Funeral Home.
The white Cherokee Jeep he was driving was struck five times by bullets from a 45 caliber pistol. One of the bullets is believed to have struck Plowden as he attempted to drive off.
On Monday, the police were able to locate the vehicle that may have been used in the shooting. The police found three teen-agers driving a dark Chevrolet Impala, which was a rental.
The teens, according to Coleman, did not have anything to do with the shooting and were released.
The homicide was the first to occur in Abbeville in the last 18 months.
