Conservatives from throughout the Acadiana area are urged to attend a meeting Monday, April 20 where involvement in government at the grass roots level will be discussed.

A spokesman for the group, Ernie Alexander, said the event is being organized by the Louisiana Republican Party but is open to all conservatives, regardless of party affiliation.

The meeting will be held at the Clifton Chenier Center located at 220 West Willow Street in Lafayette. Things will get started at 6:30 p.m. and close at around 8:30 p.m.

The Center is located on I-49 across from Northgate Mall.

Citizens from Acadia, Evangeline, Iberia, Lafayette, St. Landry, St. Martin and Vermilion are all urged to attend.

Alexander said individuals with knwledge on how to become more involved with politics at the grass roots level and how to contact others with ideas would make a presentation. Following the presentation a panel will answer questions.

The meeting is one of several being conducted around Louisiana in accordance with RNC chairman Michael Steele’s belief that information should flow up to Washington from grass roots instead of vice-versa.
