With new technologies always on the horizon, schools leaders, teachers and students are constantly learning new ways to integrate technology.

In the fall of 2009, the Vermilion Parish School Technology Department bought a flip camera for each school. The new compact, hand-held video camera is proving to be an asset for schools to help integrate multimedia lessons in the classroom.

During the summer, Vermilion Parish District Technology Specialist Mike Dartez offered a hands-on workshop to help educators learn more about flip cameras and how to mesh the use of flip cameras with the curriculum. Lesson ideas and Web site links were shared for the teachers to incorporate productive lessons to assist in utilizing this resource in classroom.
