During the investigation, it was determined that Lemaire falsely reported to his vehicle insurance provider that he loaned his 2009 Ford Mustang to his girlfriend who crashed the vehicle into a canal.
Troopers learned Lemaire actually crashed his Mustang earlier the same day and orchestrated a plan to submerge the Mustang into a body of water in Vermillion Parish.
Troopers also concluded that two individuals, Stacey Guidry and Paul Guidry II (both 23 years of age from Abbeville), assisted Lemaire in staging the crash and reported false information to authorities as well as the insurance company investigating the claim. As a result, troopers obtained an arrest warrant for Lemaire for automobile insurance fraud, damage to property with intent to defraud, and attempted felony theft by fraud in the amount of $26,425.00. Also, arrest warrants were obtained for Stacey Guidry and Paul Guidry II for automobile insurance fraud.
On August 6, 2010, Stacey Guidry and Paul Guidry II were arrested and booked on their warrants into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. On Wednesday, Lemaire surrendered to troopers at the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center where he was arrested and booked.
