We were standing beside a homemade wood table in a hot kitchen near a wood cook stove.
Perspiration was poring off mom’s forehead. Her hands were busy assembling the ingredients for a cake.
The country fresh eggs, the flour, the baking powder, the sugar, the fresh fruit, such as apples or peaches, the chopped pecans or black walnuts—everything was mixed together in correct proportions.
I had faith in my mother’s cooking because her actions had been tried and proven.
God has always been faithful and successful in his plans and actions!
God wants “us to be” like a completed recipe that has been put through the preparation and baking process. The outcome will be like a county boy tasting his mother’s outstanding cooking. It will result in having an increase of joy, of peace, and our “Alleluia” praises to God!
Translate your pain into praise.
Remove the words awful, horrible, unbearable, devastating and hopeless from your vocabulary. Counteract your negative thoughts with scripture verses. Caste down your negative thoughts by believing, memorizing and speaking the scriptures!
Listen to Jesus say, “Peace, be still,” to your troubled, stormy soul. Faith in the Lord Jesus, because of its connection to the Almighty God, gives you a power that commands, a power that the storms of life obey, and the power that the Devil must flee from.
Oh, what an “awesome God” that we have (Isaiah 40:12-14; Job 9:5-12). The flesh attempts to turn aside from those things that we don’t like or understand.
I had no desire nor could I gain enjoyment from eating the raw eggs and the baking power. Problems in this life are like that!
Once Mom completed mixing all the ingredients and put the mixture into the oven to be baked, the cake tasted delicious.
Have you had something to happen to you recently that you didn’t enjoy? Did it make you sad and weep? Did it make you angry?
Look beyond your difficulties to the end result.
God is going “to cause everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose….”
We have faith in this promise when we believe right. If we believe wrong or don’t believe at all, we will have fear.
Fear produces panic.
We can commit “everything” to Him—not just a few isolated things like cake ingredients. You can claim this verse of scripture if you love God, are chosen by God, and are called by the Holy Spirit (v. 30). Your faith in God should not waiver when you are suffering or when you are filled with joy.
God’s love at Calvary in Christ covers all the puzzles and riddles of life.
When we stand on Heaven’s shore, we’ll be able to look back to fully understand our Lord’s eternal purpose for all our trials. Earth’s pain will be our Heavenly gain. After we have faced the furnace of fire, we will discover that our faith came forth tried as pure gold.
Personally, I always enjoy eating God’s Romans 8:28 cake. Don’t you?
