The competition was held in conjunction with the Roastin’ with Rosie Barbecue Festival in Jennings on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010.
The girls were supported by parents, friends and supporters from the community. Several EMS football players also made the trip to Jennings to support the girls.
“When we saw all of the parents with signs and how many people had made the trip, it really got us excited to compete. It especially meant a lot that some of our football players came out to support us,” said Brooke Langlinais, and eighth grade cheerleader.
“This is the first time EMS has gone to a cheerleading competition, and for us to win it makes it that much more special,” said Emily Delcambre, another eighth grade cheerleader. The EMS coaches and cheerleaders would like to extend a special thanks to Shelli LeBlanc and Katie Langlinais who cam to several practices and helped them perfect the winning routine.
