North Vermilion Patriots return to Sulphur after one year absence

When the North Vermilion Patriots, seeded 6th, play against Pearl River Rebels, seeded 10th, today (Wednesday), NV head coach Jeremy Trahan scouted the Rebel baseball game without leaving Vermilion Parish.
Trahan spent this past weekend utilizing video and the internet to watch the Rebels (29-10) play. He carefully studied the hitters and pitchers to prepare for today’s semifinal game of the Division II non-select playoffs. What are his thoughts on the team he will be facing?

Carlisle Quackenbos is all smiles after winning the pole vaulting Class A state title.

VC has state champion pole vaulter

Carlisle Quackenbos of Vermilion Catholic captured the pole vault at Thursday’s Class A state track meet in Baton Rouge.
Quackenbos only needed two jumps to win the title. She cleared 9-5 on her second-to-last attempt.
Marley Moore of VC also had a good day. She finished third in the long jump (15-10.5) and was seventh in the 100 meter dash (12.98).
VC’s Luke McLain was fifth in the javelin and Bree Duhon was sixth in the hurdles.

Kaplan dominates all-district softball team

The Kaplan Lady Pirates showcased their unparalleled prowess in the 2024 All-District 5-3A games, emerging as the dominant force on the all-district first team.
The Lady Pirates landed 11 on the first team and had the MVP and the Coach of the Year.
Senior Kennedy Marceaux, with a .700 batting average, was named the district’s most valuable player. The other district coaches voted Brittany LeBeouf as coach of the year. 
The Lady Pirates, who won the district title for the fourth straight year, dominated the infield and outfield on the first team.

Ashly Boudreaux was Abbeville's basketball coach for seven years.

North Vermilion has a new volleyball coach - Abbeville high's volleyball/basketball coach

LEROY – The North Vermilion Lady Patriots volleyball team has a new head coach and it’s a familiar face – Ashly Boudreaux.
Boudreaux has been the head basketball and volleyball coach at Abbeville High since 2017. This past season she won her second consecutive district title and third overall with the Lady Cats’ basketball team.
While the decision wasn’t easy, Boudreaux is excited for a new challenge. Seeing familiar faces will make the transition easier.

Playing in his first ever regional golf tournament, Kaine Stevens of NVHS won it.

Butterfly helps North Vermilion sophomore win regional golf title

Kaine Stevens needed help to win the regional golf tournament, and he found help when a butterfly landed on the green of the final hole.
Stevens needed to make a 20-foot putt to win the regional tournament.  
As the tension mounted, Stevens was grappling with the best approach to read the putt. Suddenly, a butterfly materialized on the putting green, seemingly out of thin air, adding an unexpected twist to the already nail-biting situation.
