KAPLAN - An early morning one vehicle accident caused the shut down of a natural gas line which feeds the city of Kaplan including along Highway 14 to the golf course in Abbeville.
VERMILION PARISH — On Wednesday, Aug. 24, shortly before 4 p.m., troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to a two vehicle fatality crash on La. Hwy. 82 near Horseshoe Road in Vermilion Parish. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Justin Minnick of Abbeville.

No tobacco will be allowed on grounds of Abbeville General

Abbeville General has adopted a 100 percent tobacco-free campus policy that will become effective May 1.
As of this date, patients, staff, and visitors will no longer be allowed to use tobacco products of any type, including smokeless and electronic tobacco products, on any part of the hospital campus.

Vermilion Parish School board adopts new insurance plan

Vermilion Parish School Board employees now have new health insurance options to select from.
At Thursday’s meeting, the school board adopted three different health insurance plans with Blue Cross Blue Shield.

On Friday, April 15, the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette hosted the Celebration of the Eucharist and Rite of Installation of His Excellency, the Most Reverend John Douglas Deshotel, DD, as the seventh Bishop of Lafayette.
