A local family recently brought a cake as a thank you to the Abbeville Police Department.

The Savoy family brought a cake to the Abbeville Police Department Tuesday afternoon, a cake decorated with a simple message. “We Love You.”
At a committee meeting Monday evening, School Superintendent Jerome Puyau explained to the School Board members about the letter that was recently received from the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. Puyau went over each recommendation the auditor wrote in the letter and explained to the board members what each one meant.

An Abbeville woman faces charges after she allegedly waved a gun at an ARC of Vermilion bus Monday afternoon. Abbeville Police booked Leslie Guidry for Aggravated Assault with a Firearm early Tuesday morning. She turned herself in Tuesday after police issued a warrant Monday evening.

Helping hands from around the country

Chari Heldenbrand (pink T-shirt) is all smiles while picking up litter along Orange Drive. Heldenbrand, who lives just outside Des Moines, Iowa, was among a group of visitors from around the country who helped pick up litter Monday morning.

Visitors are drawn to Vermilion Parish and Louisiana for many reasons.
